Del Rio really? I was finally interested again with Miz being a great heel champ. But Del Rio winning the Rumble after not being around a year and being, IMO, still a rookie. WTF?

I don't know whether to pull a Cornette Face or to accept the win. They've given Del Rio, a man who hasn't been there a year and who hasn't even had a second-tier title reign (ie; US and IC), the main event at Wrestlemania and the title shot to boot. GOD.DAMN. (Although this is stemming from me really wanting Kofi, Barrett or Bryan to have won. Also, WTF was Santino doing in the final four, GODDAMN!!)
I was crossing my fingers, hoping that it would come to Barrett and Orton. Then it came down to Del Rio, Orton and Marella. Then Del Rio and Marella. Then I switched off my internet and wondered what Vince and his writers smoked to come up with that. However, this does give me some hope for the future of WWE: Their actively pushing younger stars now, so I hope..hope we'll be seeing some new stars break into the Main Event before too long.
I've got to admit though, I never expected Diesel or Booker T to return. That was the first time i've legitimately marked out in a while.

I agree with you in that the pushing new Stars is needed. But the line in front of del rio was too long for me to think that this is just to keep him. Late last year he was complaining about money and usage while in development and now he's in the main event at mania. I think he's just bitching and politicking his way. Yes he's getting a lot better but you can't honestly tell me he's better than morrison, swagger, kofi, dolph, sheamus, or punk.
There are plenty of mid weights that are at the level to move up that have been around longer and are better performers than him

Dude, I marked the fuck out when Diesel and Booker showed up. Then when Del Rio came out in his car, I was like "Really? Even at the Rumble?" Then when Orton clocked him when he hadn't even gotten in the ring yet made me laugh. However, when Del Rio won, I went straight Cornette face and said I was pretty much done with WWE. Then, this morning, I realized that I'll stay done with Smackdown(which I never watch anymore anyway because of class) and continue to watch Raw, which entertains me.

There are some mid-weights I would've taken over Del Rio, but this is a winner I can take. Did Orton or Cena win? No. Did someone who's already been champion win? No. Did someone who's already had a big Wrestlemania moment win? No. Those were alot of the things I wanted not to apply to whoever won. Did I go in really wanting/expecting Del Rio to win? No. Will I take it? Hell yeah. He's a younger guy, who honestly has 'it', has everything he needs. He just needs to get better at using it. He's not ready right this moment for what he's being handed. But he's got three months, and probably a feud with Edge, to get good enough. Right now Del Rio has my support and my optimistism. If he fucks this up, he's dead to me. I don't think he will though.

This was brilliant from a business standpoint. Mysterio is breaking down and is said to be retiring in the next year or two. WWE wants to expand more into the Mexican market and have a significant Hispanic fanbase on Smackdown. So what do they do? They take the only other believable Hispanic talent (Del Rio) and push him hard. Also, the guy is a good worker with solid mic skills and some legitimate heat. Furthermore, rumor has it that WWE got Mistico to sign based off of Del Rio's success. Those two have gone at it in CMLL, so if they match them up down the line in WWE it will be good all around.
It was a business decision, nothing more and nothing less.

I completely see where you're coming from there Scorpion. That's alot of the reason Del Rio was brought in when he was. And honestly, I hate Rey. I can't stand anything about him. He has no real charisma, his in ring has become so stale boring and predictable it's stupid. I'm so ready for him to be gone. And Del Rio is the one alot of people see as next to go there.
But by god will they USE Chavo?! The man is as close to Eddie as you're EVER going to get. Del Rio will never be near it. Rey never has been near it. Chavo is practically a small Eddie who got dealt different cards in WWE. He's just as good technically and charisma wise in almost every way. I'm seriously annoyed that they use Rey of all people, but not Chavo. It's stupid.

Warrior I agree with you. We've talked about this before.
But Scorpion while it might be a business thing, the reason i have so much an issue with Del Rio is the only reason he wasn't left in developmental was because he complained about his pay check and they needed someone to replace rey so bad that they gave in. He's a great business investment but the guy doesn't understand the business he's using it for money hasn't paid his dues and is only there to replace rey.
Basically the reason Rey got big (needing a replacement) is the same reason Del Rio will be. And i fear that he will beat Edge at Mania for the same reason not because he has earned it or is ready for it.

He's a great business investment but the guy doesn't understand the business he's using it for money hasn't paid his dues and is only there to replace rey. I have to disagree on this one. Del Rio most certainly understands the business since his father was a VERY famous wrester in Mexico named Dos Caras and his uncle is the legendary wrestler Mil Mascaras. Both of these men were legends in Mexico and Japan, so Del Rio most certainly understands the business. Furthermore, he worked in Mexico for years as Dos Caras Jr., earning his way up through the ranks and paying those dues you mention. In fact, Del Rio is an established main eventer in Mexico, having held the CMLL World Heavyweight Title for over 15 months. To say he hasn't paid dues just isn't accurate. Yes, he might not have been in WWE a long time, but Del Rio has paid more dues in the overall profession than most guys on the WWE roster. Hell, the guy is also a noted MMA fighter and has 9 wins out of 14 fights, which damn sure isn't bad. Also, the business thing was simple capitalistic economics. Del Rio had all the leverage because THEY APPROACHED HIM. In fact, Del Rio had already turned them down previously because CMLL offered him a better deal. He only took the WWE contract the second time because they let him retain his rights to his Dos Caras gimmick and gave him more money than he would make in Mexico. You can't fault the man for being a sound economist. He was smart and got what he wanted. You go from being one of the top guys in the largest promotion in Mexico to being one of the top guys in the largest promotion in the United States, making more money and increasing your name recognition along the way. How can you argue against that?

The same way most idiots do. In a fair world Chavo would have been pushed but it's not fair.
I didn't know all of that so i thank you for informing me.I still don't like the guy as a character but i do respect him more as a man now.
He's got a sweet deal no lie there. WWE just needs to use their whole roster better and I guess I'm just hoping they'll do that instead of picking and choosing and stopping peoples pushes right when they get good because something might be better.

I still don't like the guy as a character He's a heel. That means he's doing his job right.

Not because of that. Because the character is boring. It's JBL with a twist and I'm sorry JBL wasn't entertaining

You hated JBL, therefore he was a great heel.
P.S. - JBL was the best...commentator...ever.
