OH YEAH! HARDCORE JUSTICE IS SOON! OMGWTFBBQECW REVIVAL IN TNA! OH YEAH! FUCK WWE! ECW FOR--
Ok, no, no no no nooooooooooooooooooo.
In case no-one knows, basically, TNA has become subjected to an "ECW Invasion". The ECW guys have showed up in the crowd for a few weeks, and two weeks ago they invaded the ring and started beating the crap out of everyone. You had guys like Tommy Dreamer, Stevie Richards, Al Snow, Raven, Rhino, Mick Foley.......Thats it for now.
Apparently, these are the names confirmed from this TOTALLY AWESOMEZORZ PPV:
* Tommy Dreamer
* Mick Foley
* Rob Van Dam
* Team 3D
* Raven
* Rhino
* Stevie Richards
* Simon Diamond
* Johnny Swinger
* Al Snow
* Axl Rotten
* Balls Mahoney
Alright, does it sound good? Apparently, there are a few surprises to be announced..Maybe Sabu? Sandman? Anyone? Could be anything. This is TNA after-all.
Alright, so it's all well and good that TNA are bringing back mini-ECW for a "One Night Stand"-style PPV...but here's my beef with it:
How the fuck do TNA even think their going to revitalise or pay homage to the legacy of ECW?
Seriously, I understand TNAs entire fetish for slamming every little thing WWE does, because lets face it, nothing says "Serious wrestling company" like slamming every single tiny thing your competitor does (Not like WWE recognises TNA seriously anyway) but does Dixie Carter, Hogan, Bischoff etc; think that because their at the helm of a smaller fed, this will somehow be the perfect homage to ECW?
No, after One Night Stand, that was it. Game over. ECW died. WWECW never officially existed. In fact, we'll call THAT MiniNXT. Let's face it: ECW is gone. The days of bingo halls, chair throwing and Hat Guy and Kato are GONE (If they show up at HardCORE Justice I will cry) So TNA are deciding to bring it back. To me, it feels less like "Paying homage to the ECW originals" and more like "Look, WWE, we can do ECW too. PAY ATTENTION TO US!"
Another thing is Tommy Dreamer, who appears to be the figurehead of this. He cut a promo last week about how "WWE ruined ECW" and how he had to watch as they "ruined its legacy" and how "They fired his friends."
I found this promo to be nothing short of hilarious, whether TNA wrote it or Tommy just came out with it. Let's face it, WWE DID piss over the entire legacy of ECW. They turned it into another massed franchise filled with their outcasts, whose only claim to fame during the WWECW years is that it bred CM Punk...and John Morrison too (I guess), but for fucks sake, raise your hands, WHO stayed on in WWECW as the "Last Surviving Original" (As he was so called for the years by the WWECW commentators)? Tommy Dreamer. WHO renewed his contract with the same fed that he claims ruined the legacy of ECW and he had to sit by and watch? Tommy Dreamer. Whether you want to argue he needed the money or not (When he could've gone to TNA in the first place and had this storyline done by now) it's hilarious.
So, TNA have got some Originals, are missing guys like Sabu, Sandman, (Who actually gifted Dreamer his "Innovator of Violence" moniker when he twatted him repeatedly with Singapore Canes and Dreamer said "Please sir, can I have another?") New Jack (IMO Can't have true ECW without that mad fucker) Shane Douglas (Who has turned down the offer recently), Masata Tanaka, Terry fucking Funk, Tracy Smothers...So many more missing (Might be revealed) and now are trying to revitalise ECW.
If anyone knows how exactly they'll be doing this, feel free to reply, because if WWE killed ECW, TNA are essentially desecrating its corpse further. Sadly, TNA fans tend to be so fickle they're swallowing it up without question (So in same ways, they are like ECW fans already) But without the Hammerstein, the indy atmosphere, the utter madness, the stars..TNA are just bringing in another hollow shell just to say "Look, TNA can do ECW as well." Well, Tommy, I hope this provides the "closure" you're looking for, because after TNAs done, ECW will be Dixies bitch and it's gravestone will have fresh piss on it.
</rant>
Also, if anyones wondering why I still bother watching TNA:
a) It's the only wrestling program easily accessible to me since no-one in the house is willing to pay (Me included) an extortionate amount for Sky Sports
b) Motor City Machineguns FINALLY got the Tag Titles. I'll keep watching TNA until they get released, I'll admit.
c) Guys like Matt Morgan, Desmond Wolfe, Rob Terry etc; who I admit I actually like. Too bad their overshadowed by shitty writing, booking and awful ideas.
