The scene begins as Danny arrives in the arena in Rosemont Gardens. His sports bag slung over his right shoulder, Danny looks completely focused on his match with Immanuel Taylor, which is just a couple of hours away.
As Danny heads down a corridor in search of the locker rooms, resident EUW Backstage Interviewer Jack Rodgers pops up seemingly out of nowhere. Microphone in hand and camera man in tow, Jack chases after Danny most likely looking to get an exclusive interview with the former Pure Champion ahead of his match.
Jack Rodgers: Danny! Danny!
He calls until he catches up to the young man, who turns and greets him with a nod.
Danny: What's up, Jack?
Jack Rodgers: I just wondered if I could get a few words with you about Brett Cross?
Danny frowns, surprised the question aimed at him has no relation to his opponent tonight.
Danny: I guess, if you like... what about him?
Jack Rodgers: Well, it's become apparent the two of you are friends and have a lot of mutual respect for one another, but I have to ask: is it still your intention to regain the EUW Pure - or should that be Lionheart - championship?
Danny chuckles in response to the new championship belt - a brain child of Mark Rivera's of course.
Danny: First off, like all of Mark Rivera's ideas, I think this one sucks. The reason I was so proud to hold the Pure title was because of all the prestige that comes with it. To just do away with a championship like that is a disgrace to this business.
Jack Rodgers: But do you still wish to take it from Brett Cross?
With no hesitation whatsoever, Danny nods.
Danny: Of course. It may have been renamed, but beating Brett to win it still represents a lot of the same things to me. And I know exactly what Rivera is trying to do by giving that new title to Brett. He knows he has a powerful enemy in Brett, and he's trying to remedy that. i can't allow that. Brett may be my friend, but I have just as much incentive to take that belt from him as ever.
Jack Rodgers: And what about your match tonight with Immanuel Taylor?
After thinking the question over for a moment, Danny shrugs.
Danny: There's not much to say, Jack. As I've gone on record saying before, every match is a vital momentum builder, and this one is no different. But I'm facing a much stronger opponent than I did two weeks ago. Immanuel Taylor is also a man driven by the desire to regain a championship belt, and he's also looking to get back to winning aways after a really bad month. He and I arrived in EUW at around the same time, and he has always been a wrestler who has stood out to me. On his best night I honestly believe he's capable of beating anybody on this roster. I just need to hope tonight won't be one of those nights, and that I bring my all and pick up a much needed victory.
Smiling, Jack nods.
Jack Rodgers: Well, I'll let you get on your way now, Danny. Thanks for your time, and good luck tonight.
Now Danny nods, before turning and walking away from Jack. Tonight may be one of those rare nights when Danny actually needs that luck on top of his talent, because he honestly believes Immanuel Taylor to be a dark horse ready to rise through the ranks at any moment. Danny doesn't want to become just a step on that ladder. He has his own mission - one that, deep down, Danny feels is more important than he even realises.
