Alright, a few months ago we all voted on doing a fed wide story line. The theme was, apocalyptic. Now, this writing venture has a few rules to it that you might just like. - There is no deadline on rp's. Any rp's you write for the storyline are considered free writing. Please do not take 6 months though as everyone will play off of one another.
- You must keep with the theme.
- Only use people's characters who have signed up for this storyline or have given permission to do so.
- Create one character or use one existing character in your storyline and have him killed off.
- This fed story line will end on December 31st, 2010.
This is meant to be fun. So go wild with it. The person who adds the most to this storyline will gain the title "SURVIVOR" under their name on the forums. (Look at Tom's title from last years adventure.) If you are interested in taking part in this, please respond in this post and let's get this going.

If we do multiple posts, I take it you only want the character killed off in the last one.

If we do multiple posts, I take it you only want the character killed off in the last one. Kill him off whenever you want. I just wanted to give people a challenge.

Sign me up, Scotty.
Is there any specifics (Storyline catalysts, locations etc;) or are we just making them up as we go along?

As long as you keep with the theme then the rest is up to you. You could even play off of another person's rp and chain them together. The creativity limits are defined by the writer for this.

Okay!
When I actually started writing, it went by super fast. It flowed much easier than I thought, I forgot how much I loved these storylines.
I have the entire first chapter outlined right now, and might even write it and polish it by tonight. I have plans for three full chapters for Brett Cross, and I may write another section for Tom Roberts, if I can come up with a story for him too. When that first chapter goes up, feel free to throw in yours as well, my entire series will take three chapters, but you do not need to wait for those three chapters to begin.
The first chapter does not explicitly state how we got to where we are. I'm doing a sort-of flash back system to fill in the story blanks for my chapters. The reason for not giving a cause for the apocalypse is two-fold. Firstly, the theme of the first chapter is to show how culture determines what we consider the apocalypse to be. So, in essence, the earth could have been hammered by multiple things at once in many different areas, and although the whole world is in an apocalypse, it's effected differently in different areas. Secondly, I honestly did not feel right forcing the storyline in to one specific angle, as I thought it could stifle any hard work you all have planned or have written. So, I thought this was a way to allow us all freedoms without feeling like a cop out.
So, there it is. This thing's actually going to get started!
PS. As I wrote this, I believe I actually came up with a fitting way to bring Tom Roberts in to this, too. Have fun, butt-heads!

So I have also put up my first chapter, while I intend on doing more. I found, kinda like Tom mentioned, it flowed really well once I just started writing. It's also surprisingly fun to do, so I'm definitely going to be continuing it.
Now, also as Tom, I left it pretty ambiguous as to just why everything happened. Mostly because I didn't want to end up inadvertently restricting anyone, but Tom and I spent a while discussing it earlier and I think we've come up with a fairly good way for why it happened, that also allows alot of people to decide specifics on their own. So basically, this is our outline/idea in its current form.
We are in the modern day. Unbeknownst to most of the population, the work on the Large Hadron Collider has recently hit a huge breakthrough. In a stroke of what some consider luck and some consider genius, the project succeeded and a small amount of anti-matter was successfully created. So long as it stayed in suspension, it was stable and safe. Unfortunately, not long after it was taken by one of the scientists, greedy for the creation. Unfortunately, his greediness caused him to lose sight of things as he headed into hiding with it. The tube that contained it held a battery which would keep it stable, but for how long? While in a secluded part of Northern China, he made the mistake of letting it lose stability. The explosion decimated the surrounding area beyond repair, and caused an ignorance backed action by the United States.
The United States had recently gotten intel that England of all places was garnering nuclear weapons and planning on attacking China with them. Without realizing this was what had happened, and due to a recent alliance with China, the US immediately retaliated and caused a chain reaction of what was essentially a two week long nuclear war. Things seemed to happen in the blink of an eye, as several major cities and government buildings across the world were nuked and destroyed.
This coupled with the anti-matter explosion caused a string of natural disasters worldwide. Volcanoes erupting, super hurricanes forming, tsunamis decimating islands and coastlines. All sorts of things were happening. One of the few silver linings to this though, is that despite the short nuclear war, it ended quick enough that only specific locations around the world were hit. Therefore only those main cities are infested with mutation-causing, disease-causing, or life-threatening radiation. The majority of the world, while destroyed by natural disasters, is mostly livable. And this leaves everyone simply with hope for survival, and searching for a way to do so.
Okay, that's the long version. Lemme try and shorten it real quick if that was too story-like. Large Hadron Collider worked, made anti-matter. Anti-matter blew up, causing the U.S. to overreact and trigger a two week long super nuclear war. This fucked up major cities and caused a bunch of natural disasters. Fortunately though, most of the world is still livable.
This theory works on a realistic sense, mostly because even today we don't know what would happen if anti-matter was made and blew up here. Nor what kind of aftermath would occur from an all-out nuclear war.
Also, everyone can start their story wherever they like, and pretty much explain themselves what happened there. Exactly how every area gets decimated will vary. Maybe Texas was taken out by a super-hurricane, while a tsunami wiped out New York. An F5 Tornado tore through mainland France, and an extreme earthquake tore England in half and sent large parts down to the sea and underwater. You basically pick your starting point, and choose how it got fucked up. If you wanna be in one of the places that got nuked, do it. Run with the mutation/radiation story, whatever. We can also change where the anti-matter blows and where the US attacks and whatever, to pretty much anywhere. Those were just the places I came up with off the top of my head.
But this gives us an overarching 'why' and allows everyone to kinda go it their own way, even then.
So whomever is still doing this, please respond and let everyone know your thoughts, so we can come to a basic agreement on this and get the storyline going even more. ;D

And I take from that, that you're also in favor of the 'why' I presented?
