"We 'ave been chosen by the valiant Rivera t'serve as EUW's guardians, it's gilded warriors. We 'ave been 'and picked by 'im for the job. We 'ave been graciously given the great responsibility of carryin' the EUW banner and raisin' it 'igh for all that dare oppose us t'see."
The scene opens up with a shot of none other than Brett Cross , who seems to be the one talking, as he stands in a large conference room at the front of a conference table. The remaining members of The Council: GM Mark Rivera, Marcus Puzzo, Chris Sabora and TITAN are all sitting on individual leather chairs around the slickish brown conference table while Cross continues on with his speech.
"Because of our great responsibility, there must not be any obstacles we can'nae overcome. Nary an enemy we can'nae eradicate, nor any objectives we can'nae accomplish. Yet, with great responsibilities come the greatest o' expectations. The brilliant followers who cheered us last week, the loyal fans with their words of approval and devotion, they expect us t'dominate and defend. They look t'us as the warriors and defenders of this sacred business and for that, we must all put our differences, (if any were t'surface) aside and work together. Not just t'defend the 'onor of EUW, but t'live up t' the expectations of those who 'ail us as the best of men upon Midgaard. The fans, they remind me of the women and children back 'ome whom we used t'leave in order t'go t'war. These women and children relied on us t'come back with the spoils of victory.
Fellow Council members, we 'ave been chosen, we 'ave been destined for greatness, and we will do whatever it takes t'make sure that things are on the straight and narrow for we are The Council!"
With the final two words, Cross raises his arms and screams the words causing an atmospheric ruckus to emanate. Rivera begins clapping wildly in response as Marcus Puzzo and TITAN reluctantly do the same while Sabora continues being positioned in a stone-like manner with no physical movements whatsoever. Cross takes a seat right next to Puzzo, who is taken aback by Cross' large structure.
"Thank you, Brett. That was inspiring and an excellent way to begin The Council meeting." says Rivera as he makes his way to the head of the table and buttons his jacket before straightening his tie. "Now before I begin, does anyone here wish to air any grievances or speak about a particular subject?"
"Yeah!" yells TITAN before pointing towards Marcus Puzzo. "Why is he here? He's not on our level."
"Says who?" immediately replies Marcus with a temper as leans in closer towards TITAN.
"Says me, you little punk. Didn't I powerbomb you a week or two ago?"
"That was my brother, idiot. You should be able to differentiate between him and me by the fact that he's wearing a mask and I'm not, but I guess that's too much thinking for you."
TITAN, now genuinely irritated, leans in closer to Marcus Puzzo.
"How about I peel off your face with my fingernails and wear it as a mask?" hisses TITAN as Rivera immediately steps in by slamming his fist onto The Council table. "Enough! Billy! Marcus! Both of you back off!" yells Rivera as Cross interjects by grabbing Marcus by the shoulder and gently pulling him back.
"Let the manner slide, young Marcus." confidently says Brett and Marcus reluctantly agrees, nodding his head.” Rivera eyes TITAN, who sighs and leans back in his chair. "This is going to be our first subject this evening." declares Rivera as he stands tall in front of his Council. "You people are a team. Plain and simple. I'm not naive enough to assume that you are going to work together as one but I have enough authority to remind you that you must act like one in front of the cameras. I've taken you and elevated you to the highest position in the roster, spoiled you with main event matches and fame and in return I don't want any macho bullshit. I don't care who has the biggest dick here, it doesn't matter. What does is that when the cameras roll, all of you will work together like a well-trained and well-disciplined Military Unit."
Rivera takes a second to collect himself as he eyes every Council member with stern eyes. He smiles at Brett Cross and nods, indicating that this speech isn't directed towards him.
"Therefore I greatly encourage all of you to get to know each other. Talk to each other, hang out with each other, learn each other's mindset and when the cameras roll, I want team action magic from all of you. Razzle-Dazzle, people. Which of course brings me to tonight's card and the inevitable Retribution card. Let's begin with tonight. Brett, you will be taking on Toby Hunter in a Mead Hall Brawl rematch. I understand you lost to Hunter in a similar match on the first show we had since this business re-opened on January?"
"Ay, Commander Rivera." says Cross with unashamed admittance of defeat. "Toby 'Unter is a valiant warrior, indeed. One who fought me 'till 'is last breath, and t'mine as well."
"Commander?" interjects TITAN with a confused stance towards Cross' choice of words. Rivera eyes him but then quickly returns his attention towards Cross.
"Yes Brett, Toby is a tough competitor which is why I put him in a Mead Hall Brawl match tonight. I need you to hurt him. I need you to thrash him around till he is unable to physically move, I need him beaten, bloodied, and scarred by the end of the match."
"Is 'Unter a direct threat t' The Council?"
"Of course, Brett. He is also our number one threat because of the World Title around his shoulder. All this plan needs is a two-part process. The first part is tonight's Mead Hall Brawl match. The second part is at Retribution when Sabora takes on Hunter for the title. Brett destroys him tonight and Sabora finishes him off at Retribution and makes off his World Title."
"Tis an ingenious plan, Rivera." says Cross while raising his head upwards to the ceiling. Suddenly, Sabora tilts his head to the left before opening his mouth and actually speaking. "No" declares Sabora as everyone suddenly turns their attention towards him.
"No?"
"I do not need Cross' assistance in defeating Toby Hunter. I am more than capable of doing so on my own without anyone's help."
Before Rivera can respond, Marcus Puzzo leans in closer towards Sabora. Both Marcus and Chris Sabora have history with each other, beginning with Sabora mentoring The Puzzos and ending with the separation of two sides. While approving of 415, Sabora never liked Marcus, who immediately abandoned Sabora when he suffered his mental breakdown. Along with Sabora taking out both Puzzos, Marcus has nursed a perpetually growing hatred towards Sabora. He immediately takes advantage of this opportunity.
"Oh really, Chris?" begins Marcus with a smile. "You see, the last time you and Hunter had a match, I recall he beat your ass in the ring. And he didn't need anyone to do so."
TITAN laughs as Rivera and Cross stare on disapprovingly. Sabora suddenly robotically twists his heads to Marcus' direction.
"And the last time I recall, I easily took you out the last time we had a match. Correct?" responds Sabora as Marcus' smile dissipates. "Now crawl back into your hole, little bug, and let the adults communicate."
TITAN lets out another loud laugh as he taunts both men to get it on.
"Does that annoy you, Chris?" responds Marcus. "Does it annoy you that you and I are on the same team and on the same level? That I made it to the main event on my own without the help of either you or my brother? I bet it really stings, Chris."
"You are a fly awaiting the time to be permanently eradicated, Marcus. I have no doubt that you sold yourself to that man over there to get a spot on this team and I also have no doubt that your time of demise will come. You cannot exist on your own."
"YOU ARROGANT SON OF A BITCH!" yells Marcus before Cross slams his fist on the table. TITAN stops laughing and taunting as Sabora and Marcus end their heated words. Cross’ interference causes all three men to stop their behavior and calm down. "Thank you, Brett" emanates Rivera before redirecting his attention towards Sabora himself. "Now Chris, I understand your dedication to beat Toby Hunter on your own but I need a guarantee that the World Title goes off Hunter and fits nicely on you."
"I can deliver on that guarantee with my own abilities."
Before Rivera can respond, Cross intervenes with his deep voice and large stature. Sabora immediately takes notice of him.
“Do not worry, brother Sabora.” begins Cross. “You 'ave my word, the word of "The God of Midgaard," that there will be enough of Toby 'Unter left at Retribution t'constitute a fair fight, oh valiant Sabora. Never would I be one t'deny a warrior 'is battle.”
“Thank you Brett.” kicks in Rivera, reassuming control of the dance. Sabora backs down from his protest, seemingly satisfied with Cross’ guarantee. “Now that we’ve cleared Sabora’s grievance, let’s move on to a more general subject. Tonight’s main event. I’ve taken the liberty of putting three of you on the same side. Puzzo, TITAN and Sabora. We’ve already seen the three of you nearly claw each other’s eyes out right now so I’m going to be as direct as possible. When the cameras start rolling, I want all three of you to start acting like team-mates. Is that clear?”
TITAN and Marcus spitefully stare down one another before reverting their gaze towards Sabora, who is as mobile as a brick wall. Rivera smiles and continues on.
“Now onto the Pay Per View. Chris, we already discussed your match so let’s skip that. Let’s start with Marcus. Now I understand you’ve agreed to a rematch between your brother and you?”
“Yeah. Don’t worry though Mr. Rivera, this time I’ll finish him for good.”
“Splendid. Now onto Billy.”
“I don’t have a match” sternly replies TITAN as Rivera eyes him "I fully realize that, Billy" begins Rivera "However you do have an existing feud, a loose end, that you need to close the book on. I believe Count Ludvak and you aren't exactly on the same page"
TITAN immediately grins at the mention of Count Ludvak. He clenches both his fist and loudly scoffs.
"You just tell me when and where and I'll rip his teeth out. I didn't get the chance to repay him for sneaking up on me in his locker-room."
"And knocking you unconscious with one blow if I recall" quickly shoots in Rivera, causing some chuckles to emanate from Marcus Puzzo. TITAN quickly glares at him but before anything can happen Rivera mends the situation. "Retribution.. You and Ludvak. It seems this feud more about who can take out the other so I'm making the match between you and Ludvak on Retribution."
“I don’t want a normal match, he’ll just get those bitch followers of his to take a blow for him. I want him alone and isolated from those two idiots that follow him around.”
“Ask and you shall receive, Billy” replies Rivera before taking out a folder and sliding it down the table to TITAN, who rips it open and finds a series of papers with sketches of what seems to be sketches of a cage on them.
“I’ve decided to create a new match that tailors specifically to feuds as violent as the ones between you and Ludvak. Now, Brett and I have been talking about Norse Mythology and I’ve found it to be quite fascinating. More importantly, I also found many aspects of it to be parallel to our world today. Now, according to what Cross and I discussed, there was certain god called The God of Duel. His name was Ullr. Of course, if I could hire the god I would but considering that’s not feasible anymore than I’ll have to settle on utilizing his ideologies to settle this violent feud. Now like I said, he’s the God of Duel and the only way to settle things between Ludvak and TITAN is a duel. Which is why I’m making it a Last Man Standing match. Now, factoring in the possibilities that those two drones of Ludvak will probably interfere, I’m also going to be adding a Cage match stipulation. Together, those two stipulations make up what I call the Ullr’s Brawl Match ”
Rivera smiles wildly, utterly proud of himself for coming up with that. He nods to Cross before turning back to TITAN, who seems to be apathetic towards the sketches of the Ullr’s Brawl Match.
“So…uh….this Urine Brawl Match, it’s basically a combination of the Last Man Standing and…”
“Ullr, Billy. Ullr, not Urine.”
“Yeah whatever, this match is basically a Cage match and a last man standing match all mixed together? So I get to be in a cage with that freak and I get to beat the living shit out of him.”
Rivera nods as TITAN relaxes back in his chair, seemingly satisfied with Rivera's decision. He suddenly leans back forward and emanates an unusual request.
"Do I have full authority to do what I want with that freak? I mean, it's not like the match has any rules, eh?"
"No, Billy. I created The Ullr’s Brawl Match as both a friendly gesture and a means to end this feud once and for all. However, you still have some things to remember. Such as you are going to look in front of the cameras, we can't exactly have you going violent after the match and trying to pull another Laurel incident on Ludvak. And plus, you are still under a strict medication program. Beat the hell out of Ludvak, sure, but once the ring bell rings you leave the cage and walk away. Period."
TITAN, a bit infuriated, decides to let it drop and take what's been given, which is Ludvak and him in a Last Man Standing match. Rivera doesn't skip a beat as he makes way towards Brett Cross, placing a hand on his large shoulder.
"And speaking about Eddie Laurel, I took care of things before you debuted here Brett. I already signed a contract pitting you against him at Retribution."
"Commander Rivera... 'e is but a lad. A boy." confidentially yet respectfully replies Cross. "Perhaps a more... imposing challenger should be in order?"
"Oh Brett, trust me on this. Laurel is definitely imposing. What he lacks in size he more than makes up for it in intellect. I mean, he was able to defeat TITAN more than once by bending the rules and utilizing his strategic mind."
TITAN scoffs loudly as both Rivera and Cross divert their attentions to him. "Laurel's a cockroach. The only reason he beat me was because I went easy on him. Step on him and finish him as soon as possible."
"Now now Billy, I'm sure Cross is more than capable of forming a strategy to take down Eddie Laurel. Now I see we've discussed everything possible to discuss so without further ado I hereby declare the end of the first ever Rivera Council meeting. Have fun tonight, boys, and remember that the cameras are rolling."
Rivera raises his glass of champagne as all the superstars, excluding Sabora, raise their respective glass. Marcus cheerfully gulps down his while Brett consumes the contents of his mug. TITAN seems somewhat spiteful and attentive towards Brett Cross as he stares down the big man. Chris Sabora, realizing there is no need to be here anymore, gets up and promptly leaves the room as Mark Rivera eventually follows. Marcus calls after him, wanting to discuss something, thus leaving TITAN and Brett Cross alone in the room.
"Hey" blares TITAN at the seated Cross before getting up and making his way towards him. "You're not so big, you know?"
"What say ye?" confusedly remarks Cross as he stands up, finding himself face to face with TITAN. Cross is obviously bigger and more muscular but TITAN shows no sign of backing down.
"I'm just saying. Everyone treats you like you're some kind of monster but I ain't impressed. I'm the one who nearly executed that Laurel fuck, I'm the one who has to be restrained on medication. I'm the monster here, not you. We might both be on the same boat but if push comes to shove…well, then you might find yourself drowning."
With that, TITAN quickly makes his way out of the conference room, not giving Cross the chance to respond and leaving him slightly confused. The cameras slowly fade out before fading back into the inside of the Vengeance Dome where the cameras officially begin broadcasting the May 29th Edition of Saturday Night Vengeance! After the usual rotations around the arena, attempting to encapsulate the large surges of energy given off by the shrieking EUW fans. Many of the fans seem to have signs with Rivera’s face on it and the words “#1 GM OF EUW” under it signifying their appreciation (and naiveté) regarding Rivera. The cameras finally stop in front of the announcers table with the usual sight of JJ and Creep seated in their usual positions and their usual attires.
Creep: Bam! We’re on!
JJ: Ladies and gentlemen, I am JJ and my associate is The Creep and we would like nothing more than to welcome you to SATURDAY….NIGHT…VENGEANCE!
Creep: And more specifically, the last SnV before Retribution! We already four matches confirmed for the PPV. Brett Cross and Eddie Laurel, one on one. TITAN and Count Ludvak in what has been described as an Ullr’s Brawl Match. The Puzzo Brothers one on one, and of course the main event of the evening….JJ, will you do the honors?
JJ: Sure! It’s gonna be Chris Sabora taking on Toby Hunter for the World Title! And speaking about Hunter, the World Champion is booked right now to take on Brett Cross in a Mead Hall Brawl rematch. Take it from here, Walt!
The cameras cut to the ring where John Walt is standing in the midst of all the Norse decorations placed in the ring. A large round table, with four or five barstools positioned around it is present. On top of the table itself, though were a handful of mugs, and a large keg, as well as a roasted pig with a large red apple shoved in its mouth, the entire thing still on the spit. Additionally, there was a picture of what appears to be a brave Viking warrior battling Jörmungand. The camera then cuts to the entrance ramp where a giant set of doors sat at the top of the entrance ramp. The double doors hung over the entrance where the wrestlers usually enter from, and the rest of the stage was covered by walls on either side and above the doors. On the wall above, were a large set of horns, and on either side of the bricks were two very large, Norse shield displays.
