Hello... I'm here to see my wife...
The woman behind the desk was rather unattentive, probably due to a lack of things happening. She seemed bored, more interested in the TV than me. She took a glance at me, and turned back to the show.
We've been expecting you. She's in ward 12, in a private room.
Thanks.
I rush from the desk, heading towards ward 12. 20 minutes ago I had recieved a phonecall...
*20 minutes earlier*
The phone rang. I got up from my chair and walked over to it. I'd been waiting for news from the hospital ever since the night he came. Neko was in hospital, unconscious, as a result of being shot with one of the darts that piece of shit used.
I pick up the phone, and answer the call.
Hello?
Hello. It's Doctor Price. You'll have to come to the hospital, Lindsay is in a terrible state. I'll tell you the details when you arrive.
Okay, i'll be there as fast as I can.
Well, you didn't expect Neko to be her real name, did you? Anyway, I put the phone down and ran to the car, a black Chevy Chevelle SS, 1970 model. I made my way to the hospital as fast as I could... The only reason it took 20 minutes for me to get there, is because I was unfortunate enough to come across the police. After they heard my story, and I signed a few autographs, I had a police escort to the hospital. And here I am.
She's lying there, still unconscious. It pains me terribly to see her lying there with the mask over her face, not even knowing that i'm there. Doctor Price comes up behind me. He was tall, with messy black hair, dressed in his scrubs. He had a surgeon's mask under his chin, and a stethoscope hanging round his neck. He looked so much like the stereotype that I nearly laughed, but I managed to keep it from showing.
Good news, she isn't in a critical state at the moment. However, it is possible that she could deteriorate. We know what she was injected with, and we have countermeasures for it. She was shot with a solution of Ketamine hydrochloride, a strong animal tranquilizer, with the sort of dart zoos would use in case of an animal escaping.
Really? Fucking hell... Will she be alright?
She's stable, for now. Turns out the guy who shot her with it didn't really know how much would be needed to tranquilize a human. She's lucky. If he tried a higher dosage, he could have killed her outright. She's safe for the moment, but there is still a chance she could die. Thankfully, the chances of that happening are very low, especially with how she's coping. She's a fighter, this one.
Relief overcomes me, she won't die... Well, she might, but it's a very small chance. My relief must be visible on my face, because the doctor smiled at me when he noticed. I sit down at her bedside, and look at her lying there.
Is it okay if I stay here past visiting time? Now that you've done all the work, it'll be fine, won't it?
Yeah, sure... Just make sure you have something organised for your house. Someone's going to have to look after it... Deal with mail, milk, yeah?
Okay, I'll get my old tag partner on it... Urahara. He's good at dealing with houses and stuff, plus, if anything happens, he's tough enough to deal with it.
Sounds good. Just go outside and call him. Although I would reccomend that you go home from time to time. It's not good for you, staying here all day and night. But, if you feel you need to stay, then there's a cafe in the hospital, and you could probably find somewhere to sleep.
Thanks. I'll be back in a few minutes.
At that, I left the ward, and waked outside. I pulled out my mobile phone, and called Urahara.
Moshi moshi...
Hello, Urahara... How you doing?
Ah, i'm doing well... I heard about what happened the other night... Are you and Neko-chan okay?
I'm fine, she isn't... She's in hospital, and i've decided i'm going to stay with her, which is why I called you...
Looking for someone to do the housekeeping? Well, i'll do it. No problem.
Thanks, Urahara...
Anything for a friend. I'll be at the hospital soon with a few things for you, to keep you amused, should you need it. Which hospital are you at?
Sacred Heart. Thanks, mate. See you soon.
Dewa mata...
I hang up and walk back into the hospital. I sit down next to Neko, and put my hand on hers. She seems so fragile all of a sudden, and I feel outraged that she was shot with animal tranquilisers. I decided to read the information that the doctor had left behind for me, and felt I had made the right choice by deciding to stay. A bond of love was keeping me by her side, and it got stronger day by day...
Soon, Urahara arrived, with a bag of stuff, and an envelope. He was dressed as strangely as always, with that green and white hat, green kimono and sandals. It's amazing what you'll get used to seeing when you know someone for so long.
Ohayou! I've got your stuff here, and a letter. Seems to be from a court or something.
So he's going back into the slammer? Good. He deserves it.
I reach for the envelope, and open it. I start to read through the letter, and my face drops. I look up at Urahara, anger on my face.
What's wrong?
He's suing me...
