Roy walked out of the back stairway exit of the EUW building, still giggling to himself for planting a seed of confusion for the desk clerk. Shaking his head with delight Roy proceeded to walk back to his bike a smile on his face while he stuffed his hands in his jacket pockets. As his left hand slides into the pocket his fingers graze the stiff paper of a business card. “I don’t remember that being there” he thinks to himself before grabbing the card and pulling it out. As he looks at the fancy font Roy can’t help by laugh.” Sara Alexandria. EUW talent scout. Call me when you get the job. I’ll be waiting,” read the card. “I guess I should call her then” Roy thought as he stuffed his right hand into his jeans pocket to grab his phone. “I wonder why she said she’d be waiting. There was no guarantee that I would get this job” Roy pondered as his fingers wrapped around his phone and began to pull it out of his pocket. “What does she have up her sleeve? How did she find me that night?” Roy questioned remembering he hadn’t planned on being there that night he just walked in because it was on his way. “I’ll just call and find out” he said out loud as he slowly dialed the numbers on the business card.
As Roy finished dialing the number he hit the call button and began to continue his walk to his bike. Without ringing once the call went to voice mail as Roy placed his phone to his ear. “Hello you’ve reached Sara’s phone I’m out scouting at the moment so please leave your name and number I’ll get back to you asap” there was a slight pause in the voice mail before it continued. In this frame of silence Roy rolled his eyes “of course I’d just a voice mail. Great so I guess a bar then a hotel.” “If this is Roy go to 19206 Celtic St. in Granada Hills. We’ll talk when you get here” the message continued before giving the usual tone to indicate to leave a message.
Roy was stunned this woman who he barely knew was playing him. She was one step ahead of him and he wasn’t going to be someone’s mouse in a maze. Slowly he put his phone back into his pocket after slowly pressing the ‘end’ button as to control himself. “I’m going to find this bitch and tell her who she’s messing with” Roy grumbled before he kicked his right foot over his bike. “Acting as if I’m a child. First she plays me at the bar and now this…..oh this bitch is going to get hers.” He thought as he turned the key in the ignition. After revving up the Rocker C Roy peels out of the parking lot.
Roy sat on his Rocker on the curb in front of the house from Sara’s voice mail. He was stewing, not sure if he should calm down or just barge raging in. Part of the reason for his rage was that he had to stop several times to ask for directions, and he was still not use to driving on the right side of the road. The other was that during the ride all he could think about is how she knew so much and why was she interested. “How could she know? Why did I stand out? What’s her angle?” Roy thought as he shifted in his seat so that he was facing the house. He had been sitting there for fifteen minutes now and had caught a glimpse of Sara’s outline so he knew she was home. While he sat there debating his option he saw the front door open.
“Now are you gonna just sit there or are you going to come in?” Sara asked from the door step. She was in jogging sweats and a tank top accenting her figure. Roy was once again shocked, she had once again taken what should have been his move and turned it around on him. “How did she know she never went near a fucking window” Roy thought as she rose to his feet. “That’s a good boy” Sara said as she went back inside the house. Roy fought back the urge to growl. He had to be professional if he wanted answers no matter how much she provoked him.
Walking through the doorway Roy could smell how clean the house was before he heard the door close and lock behind him. “So I take it you got the job” Sara said matter-of-factly as she walked away from the door and into the living room. “Congratulations I suppose” she added before she slid into a reclining chair. “Have a seat” she suggested watching Roy who had just stood in her door way speechless. A grin crossed her face as he slowly did what she wanted.
“Thank you” Roy finally spoke as he took a seat on the long leather couch.
“Ah there’s that low gruff voice of yours” Sara said playfully before sitting up straight and looking Roy in the eyes. “On to business, I’ll be managing you and you’ll debut at Prestige, our biggest pay-per-view. I don’t know your opponent but that doesn’t matter. You’ll start training tomorrow, here at my gym in the basement.” Sara began to ramble as Roy held up his hands stopping her.
“I don’t even have a place to stay in this country and you have not only a match but a training schedule for me? Not to mention you claimed to be managing me? I never signed anything saying I’d have a manager and I need to be out looking for a place not training today.” Roy responded making it clear that he had plans and wasn’t going to be bossed around by Sara. However, while he was explaining his agenda Sara couldn’t help but smile the whole time. As Roy finished Sara reached into the drawer next to her chair and pulled out and envelope.
Locking eyes with Roy, Sara stared the man into silence. Once his mouth was closed Sara stood up and paced in front of Roy keeping eye contact and letting the silence build. Finally she stopped pacing handed Roy the envelope and stood up straight. Putting on hand on her hip Sara waited as Roy began to read the contract inside. “As you can see it’s already finalized. I am your manager and so long as you are in EUW that fact won’t change.” She stated as Roy’s eyes darted from line to line in shock.
“How could I get screwed like this? I only just walked out of the building today and apparently I already had a manager Kirk didn’t tell me about” Roy thought to himself as he looked from the paper to Sara, back to the paper, back to Sara, trying to wrap his head around what was going on. While Roy’s mental gears were turning Sara was smiling from ear to ear. Apparently she was enjoying Roy’s confusion and lack of experience in business. Slowly Roy put the contract back into the envelope and set it aside before locking eyes with Sara. Standing up slowly while stroking his goatee, obviously choosing his words, Roy extended his right hand to Sara after a moment. “Since it’s in writing I can’t change it but don’t screw me over.” He said slow and deliberately as Sara took his hand and shook it.
“Trust me I have no intention to.” Sara answered before breaking the shake. “Now get changed and meet me in the basement in ten minutes.” She commanded as she turned on her heels and whipped her long red hair across Roy’s face.
Stunned Roy watched Sara’s hips sway as she walked away before remembering his main problem. “And when will I have time to find a place to live if I start training now?” He yelled at Sara from across the room.
“I’ve got a bed for you upstairs now get your ass changed” Sara called back as she descended the steps to the basement. She never once looked back at Roy.
“Well just great in the states for five hours and I have a job and a manager who I get the pleasant luxury of living with.” Roy thought sarcastically to himself as he went back to his bike to get the one bag of clothes he owned. One the bag was in hand he look at the house he would be living in. “Not too bad but the bitch inside it makes it hell.” Roy thought before sighing and heading back into his own personal torture pit.
